German Bream
Polyamblyodon germanum
A bronze-grey reef seabream of the Transkei and Natal coasts, best told from the bronze bream by its teeth.

The german is a sparid seabream, grey-blue to bronzy in colour and paler below, with darker forehead, cheeks and fins. It is easily confused with the bronze bream, but the teeth set the two apart.
It is taken in deeper water from East London up to Delagoa Bay and is not uncommon on the reefs off the Transkei. It grows to about 45 cm and is excellent eating.
