The garrick, or leervis, is a big predatory member of the kingfish family with a distinctively irregular, sinuous lateral line. It is a fast, powerful hunter that works the surf zone and inshore water, often chasing shoals of mullet and other baitfish right into the shallows.
It is one of the most sought-after light-tackle gamefish along the South African coast.
