A silvery South African stumpnose seabream banded with six or seven faint dusky crossbars.

The white stumpnose is a sparid seabream of the South African coast, told from its close relatives by the six or seven narrow, dusky crossbars along the body and its longer pectoral fins. Like other stumpnoses it has strong cutting teeth at the front backed by rounded molars for crushing shellfish.
It is a popular inshore angling and eating fish over sandy and mixed ground.
