Slinger Bream

The slinger is a Chrysoblephus seabream, described from Natal and closely related to the roman and dageraad. It is a resident reef fish and, like others in its genus, a prized catch for reef and ski-boat anglers along the east coast.

As in its relatives, the larger fish on a reef tend to be older males; these seabreams typically begin life as females and later change sex. It holds to rocky reef ground where it feeds on invertebrates and small fish.
