Habitat
Cool temperate open ocean

The slender tuna is a streamlined, unmarked tuna with a plain body lacking spots or bars. It reaches 105 cm fork length and about 13.7 kg, making it one of the smaller true tunas.

A species of cool temperate seas, it occurs worldwide between roughly 20 and 50 degrees south. In our waters it has been taken at Miller's Point and Rooikrans on the Cape Peninsula and at Walvis Bay, always as an occasional visitor rather than a common catch.
