A South African flatfish of shallow sandy grounds, described from Algoa Bay and found up the coast to Natal.

The shallow-water sole is a right-eyed flatfish, its whole body flattened and both eyes on the upper side so it can lie flush against the seabed. It was first described from Algoa Bay.
It occurs along the South African coast, with records from Durban and Great Fish Point, living on shallow sandy and muddy bottoms where its camouflage keeps it hidden from predators and prey alike.
