Habitat
Open water pelagic

The rainbow runner is a slender, streamlined pelagic that ranges the open ocean in fast-moving shoals, its colours running to blue and green above with bright lengthwise stripes along the flank.

A strong swimmer and gamefish, it is caught by anglers and taken by spearos out over deeper water, well clear of the bottom.
