Fish
Indian Mirrorfish
Alectis indicus
A tall, silvery jack close kin to the threadfin mirrorfish, its juveniles trailing long fin filaments before growing into a large, deep-bodied adult.
- Habitat
- Coastal and reef waters
The Indian mirrorfish is a deep, mirror-sided jack much like its threadfin relative - silvery and strongly compressed. Juveniles trail long, thread-like fins that are lost with age, and large adults become tall, powerful fish well over a metre in length. It is a coastal and reef-associated species and a respected target for spearos.
