Greasy Rockcod
Epinephelus tauvina
A pale grey reef grouper flecked with dull orange-red spots that grow finer and more numerous with size, faint dark bars crossing the body.

The greasy rockcod is pale greyish, dusted with dull orange-red to dark red-brown spots that are smaller and more numerous on bigger fish and never sharply outlined, their centres darker than their edges. Five faint oblique dark bars may show on the body, with a blackish blotch usually present at the base of the last four dorsal spines.
A heavy-set grouper with a big mouth reaching well past the eye, it holds to reef and rocky ground where it ambushes prey from cover.
