Reefs, Mozambique and Madagascar

The christie is a sparid seabream first described from Madagascar. It has scaly plating between the eyes and on the gill-cover flange, and only modest front canines, four in the upper jaw and six in the lower.

Its nape becomes more sharply ridged as the fish grows. It is a reef-associated fish of the western Indian Ocean, recorded around Mozambique and Madagascar.
