Habitat
Deeper offshore reefs

The carpenter, or kapenaar, is a silvery seabream of deeper reef, and one of the traditional Cape line-fishes. It is caught by ski-boat and line anglers over offshore reef along the southern Cape.

Divers on the deeper pinnacles and ledges will recognise it by its slim, silver form working the reef edge.
