The brassy chub, or brons vetsak, is a member of the sea chub family, deep, oval, herbivorous fish that graze algae around reefs and rocky shores. It is separated from the closely similar grey chub by its longer soft dorsal fin and more numerous lower gill rakers.
A wide-ranging Indo-Pacific fish, it is often found in the wash and surge along exposed rock, and grows to around 65 cm.
